We beat the stubborn Trotters thanks to a headed goal from Owen! (though it’s weird how he manages to elude defenders in the air with his small size) Given also produced his share of heroics to deny a goal-bound penalty. I kinda have to feel for second-choice Harper though, with such tough competition for the goalkeeping position…. The huge cost though, is that Martins got injured and that leaves us with ZERO strikers (and I’m definitely not counting Alan Smith as one!!!)
We also thrillingly beat Coventry 3-2 midweek in the Carling Cup, with N’Zogbia, Milner and that man Owen (again) on target. Give that man a contract! Yet more bad news at the non-stop circus that’s Newcastle is that Milner has stunned everyone with a written transfer request =( I can’t say I blame him though, what with the shabby way we treated him a few seasons ago with Aston Villa….
Up next is Arsenal, a tough one, but if we can play as well as we did against Man Utd, there’s hope for us yet!
